"Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all." (1 Corinthians 12:1, 7)

The most pivotal and strategic initiatives facing the Church, the Messianic Jewish community and Israel can probably be accurately described in the natural as "against all odds."

They are situations bound for failure - unless God shows up. Historically, the way the Lord has "shown" up in instance after instance described in His Word has been through His people - who have learned to hear His voice. The role of God's economy in the course of world events today involves a particular group of leaders whose callings follow after that of the patriarchs.

Whenever God is on the move, people will start popularizing terms in attempts to define the new dimensions of what the Spirit of the Lord is releasing. Groups will shape terms to fit their own horizons. Well-intentioned responses tend to lend themselves to past perspectives and superficial renderings of the new God-given dimension before it has been given the opportunity to fully bloom. The result, unfortunately, is more of the same with a new twist rather than facilitating the entrance of a new paradigm.
Os Hillman • Selling Biblically
Is planning biblical? I believe it is. The Bible encourages us to write down our visions and plans. However, all plans must be submitted to the Lord continually for new direction and clarity. Today things change rapidly and it is very difficult to develop plans much farther out than five years. And even that is questionable. Technology is changing so fast that a five-year plan will be obsolete in six months. My suggestion: write your plans in "pencil."

A glaring problem in many societies is the establishment of different rules for work and home. The woman who would never allow her children to lie has developed a lifestyle of lying in order to make sales at work. The man who would never cheat on his wife regularly cheats on his income tax returns. The church member who professes to believe in Christ thinks nothing of violating copyright laws by burning CDs or copying MP3 files to pass along software and music to friends.

Integrity requires a company to communicate the same message to the general public that it does to its employees. It also requires that a company do for its employees what it promised them at the time of their hiring. Ever felt disillusioned because a raise or other promised perk somehow never materialized? And the explanation of why included the reasonable-sounding explanation of an economic downturn or company restructuring?

Before you can have victory in any situation you must recognize and tear down the high places.

There is a story that is told about a frog that is placed in a pot of warm water. Gradually the water is turned warmer and warmer until it is so hot that the frog does not realize he is being burned to death. He fails to jump out of the pot before it is too late. Such is where we see America right now as it relates to the secularization of society.

He is a deputy in the Ukrainian Parliament. In a discussion with him and another Parliamentarian on October 8, 2005 in Kiev, Ukraine he made the following comment.

"Yesterday, I realized something for the first time in my life. I realized that the reason Capitalism works in the West is because God is the cornerstone of it; Communism did not work because God was taken out of it."

As we sat in that small group discussion with two Ukrainian Parliament members we were witnessing a collision of worldviews. In geological terms the shifting of tectonic plates is called an earthquake; in philosophical and theological terms it is called a paradigm shift.

Buck Jacobs • Evangelism
Let your light so shine among men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven." Matt. 5:16

This familiar scripture verse rings out a challenge that is undiminished through the ages. It is taken from a passage that is traditionally called The Sermon on The Mount. This sermon or teaching has a beauty and directness that has been appreciated and honored by Christians of all times. Every Sunday school student hears it and preachers have done series based on it forever.
